Thamar

Thamar is the older transliteration of the name of Tamar, the Canaanite daughter-in-law of Judah whose union with him after he withholds Shelah produces Perez and Zerah and so secures a place for her in the messianic line. The same Hebrew name belongs as well to the daughter of David violated by Amnon and to the daughter of Absalom named for that aunt.
