Timaeus
Timaeus is named once in scripture as the father of Bartimaeus, the blind beggar healed by Jesus on the road out of Jericho.
Father of Bartimaeus
The introduction of the Jericho healing scene identifies the blind beggar by his patronymic before naming him directly: "And they come to Jericho: and as he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the wayside" (Mr 10:46). Timaeus himself does not act in the narrative; the verse uses his name only to fix the identity of his son, whose appeal for mercy and subsequent healing follow in the surrounding verses.
