Timna
The name Timna belongs to three figures connected with the Edomite line of Esau, all clustered in the genealogies of Genesis 36 and 1 Chronicles 1.
Concubine of Eliphaz
Timna is named as the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau's son, and the mother of Amalek: "And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek: these are the sons of Adah, Esau's wife" (Gen 36:12).
Daughter of Seir, Sister of Lotan
A second Timna appears in the same chapter as a Horite woman, the sister of Lotan among the sons of Seir: "And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman. And Lotan's sister was Timna" (Gen 36:22). The Chronicler repeats the notice: "And the sons of Lotan: Hori, and Homam; and Timna was Lotan's sister" (1Chr 1:39).
Son of Eliphaz
A third Timna is listed among the sons of Eliphaz in the Chronicler's parallel to the Edomite genealogy: "The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, and Omar, Zephi, and Gatam, Kenaz, and Timna, and Amalek" (1Chr 1:36).
